The Maniototo Area School Board of Trustees plays a crucial role in the governance and strategic direction of the school. They are responsible for ensuring that the school provides a high-quality education to all students by setting policies, overseeing financial management, and ensuring compliance with educational standards. The board collaborates closely with the principal and staff to support the school’s vision and goals, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment. The school board is responsible for:

- planning for the future
- employing all school staff
- complying with the law
- managing budgets.
The board doesn’t get involved in operational issues. The principal is responsible for the day-to-day running of the school.
Being on the board allows people from the local community to get involved in the running of their school.
Anyone can be voted on to a board as a parent representative. To qualify, you must be nominated by a parent of a student at the school.
The MAS board is made up of:

- a staff-elected representative
- the principal
- a student representative
