Board of Trustees

The Maniototo Area School Board of Trustees plays a crucial role in the governance and strategic direction of the school. They are responsible for ensuring that the school provides a high-quality education to all students by setting policies, overseeing financial management, and ensuring compliance with educational standards. The board collaborates closely with the principal and staff to support the school’s vision and goals, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment. Their dedication and leadership are essential in driving continuous improvement and achieving the best outcomes for the students and the wider school community

The board is the group of people that make the big decisions and set the overall direction of the school.

The school board is responsible for:

  • policies and procedures
  • planning for the future
  • employing all school staff
  • complying with the law
  • managing budgets.

The board doesn’t get involved in operational issues. The principal is responsible for the day-to-day running of the school.

Being on the board allows people from the local community to get involved in the running of their school.

Anyone can be voted on to a board as a parent representative. To qualify, you must be nominated by a parent of a student at the school.

The MAS board is made up of:

  • 6 community representatives elected by parents
  • a staff-elected representative
  • the principal
  • a student representative
