Emergency Procedures

Health and safety within our school community is important. While we can’t prevent disasters, we can take simple steps to reduce the impact, by being prepared. The School has emergency evacuation procedures and practises these regularly.

Evacuation from the school may be required to ensure the safety of staff and students in an emergency event. Our evacuation area is the north side of courts, or the school gym (if it’s wet and safe to use)
During the initial stages of an emergency we will need to take action to look after ourselves, because the emergency services may not be able to respond immediately.

In the case of an emergency closure we will contact all caregivers. We will try to use the school texting system to send a message to all families and provide updates on the school Facebook page.

Localised emergencies such as snow days will be determined by the Principal due to factors such as safety of all students & staff getting to & from school, as well as staff availability.

If the school is closed during the course of the day, the office staff will verify that there is an organised caregiver for all students under the age of 14 to be able to return home. If there are students for whom a caregiver cannot be found, they will remain at school until 3pm or until alternative caregiving arrangements can be made.
