Houses
The House system involves an inter-house competition with house points available throughout the year for a range of activities. The house with the most points at the end of the school year wins the House Cup.
Danseys
Danseys Pass is situated in the Kakanui Range, marking the boundary between the Waitaki Valley and the Maniototo districts. The pass and the road are named after William Heywood Dansey, who was the lessee of the Otekaike run from 1857 to 1871. In 1855, Dansey, along with three companions, became the first Europeans to cross the pass in search of land in the Maniototo district. The area gained prominence during the gold rush of the 1860s. The Kyeburn Diggings, located nearby, was a significant gold mining site.
Garibaldi
The Garibaldi Diggings are situated in the Rough Ridge mountains, accessible via White Sow Valley Road. Gold was discovered here by a party of Italians in 1865. The site is likely named after Giuseppe Garibaldi, the famous general and nationalist.
Hamiltons
Located at the northern end of the Rock and Pillar Range. Hamiltons Diggings is situated near the town of Waipiata in the Maniototo region of Central Otago. The area is characterized by its rugged terrain and gold-bearing gravels.The area is named after Captain Hamilton, who along with two others, drew up and took up Run 204, known as Hamiltons Station. During its peak, Hamiltons Diggings had a bustling community with various amenities, including stores, hotels, and other establishments catering to the miners.
Serpentine
The Serpentine area is located in the Rough Ridge mountains of Otago. It is a remote and scenic region, known for its rugged terrain and historical sites. The Serpentine area was a significant site during the Otago gold rush in the 1860s. One of the most iconic landmarks is the Old Serpentine Church, built in 1873.
